Week 1: Introduction of self. We all get to know each other better and talk about ourselves. I also would like to create a camp memory box. For children to put special memorable camp stories or experiences they have from attending our camp.
Week 2: Family week: During family week we will talk about the importance of family as well as creating a family tree. We will also work on a father’s day project and card.
Week 3: International week: During this week, we will explore all the different countries and discover new foods and entertainment from around the world. Children will also be able to make an international recipe book. We will also do projects such making tie dye shirts / musical instruments etc.
Week 4: Diversity week: Why friends are important to have. Their backgrounds, what makes us different? During this week, we will be able to build stronger bonds with our friends as well as make friendship charm/bracelets that they can keep for a life time of memory. Learn the significance of giving back to the community. We may also be able to do some type of community service.
Week 5: Nutrition and Health: Discuss food pyramid, good vs. bad foods. Nutritional values etc. Let’s get physical! This week will be filled with sports and games. Children will play tag football/baseball/soccer and even learn yoga. It’s important for children to stay active and healthy. This week will help them learn the importance of physical activity and nutritional health.
Week 6: Cooking as science: Who said science is not fun! We can create new ways of learning science through cooking. This will be a great way to entertain children as well as get them involved.
Week 7: Nature week: Children will learn about green day and earthy day. They will also learn how to plant a garden as well as take care of our environment.
Week 8: Water fun: Have fun in the sun. Children enjoy playing with water. They will learn how to make their own bubbles and make their own kites. During this final week, we will have them create a camp journal. In this journal they will have day by day entries of all the fun things they did during camp along with projects with shells and sand.
At the end of the camp children will create a camp collage and will write in their camp journals.
